Most weddings these days use some sort of signage. Some of this is for practical purposes – telling people where to sit, noting a place to put gifts, etc.
Other wedding signs are just for decoration and can serve as photo backdrops, decor on a table, etc.
It can be a bit overwhelming trying to figure out all of the signs you need to display at your big day.

From the rustic look of linen to the bright glow of a wedding neon sign, there’s a wide range of wedding sign styles available on the market today. Keep reading to discover some of the best wedding signage ideas.
Wooden Wedding Signage Ideas
Wooden signs are great choice for a wedding signage ideas. If you’re doing a rustic, country themed wedding then wood signage will match perfectly with your decor.
You can get custom made wood wedding signs on places like Esty and Amazon. These are often laser cut and come in different sizes and stains. They make for a nice wedding entrance sign or to use in a photo backdrop.
Wooden Wedding Signs
You can also find wood letters from craft stores. Buy the letters you need to make your own wooden wedding sign for cheap.
Hand-Painted Wedding Signage
Another fun wedding sign idea is to hand-paint your own signs. If you’re crafty and like a good DIY project, this is a great way to save some money on your wedding decor.
For those that aren’t as skilled or are short on time, you’ve got a few options. One is to find someone to make a custom, hand-painted wedding sign for you. Etsy has lots of sellers that will hand paint signage for you to use at your wedding.
Or you can look for sellers that will create custom vinyl lettering. The vinyl letters are like stickers that can be peeled off and mounted to a sign background. Check for fonts that look similar to handwriting.
Neon Signs For Weddings
Wedding neon signs are a fun way to add a unique touch to your wedding ceremony or reception. A lot of people like to use them against a photo backdrop for a wedding selfie area.
But honestly, you can use them all throughout your wedding if you choose. From the dance floor to the bar area, head table and gift table, wedding neon signs give a fun glow to your big day.

LED Tube Light Wedding Signage
If you like the look of neon signs for weddings, but just can’t afford one, consider making your own. You’ll need some flexible LED tube lighting.
The tube lighting can then be shaped into letters to create a sign. You’ll need some sort of background to mount it against such as wood or acrylic. Rustic pallet wood is used to created the “love” LED tube light sign shown in the photo above.
Flexible LED Lights
If you don’t care about the sign lighting up, then flexible silicone or plastic tubing can be used. It comes it lots of different colors and sizes. Search for “flexible tubing for crafts” to find supplies.
Metallic Letter Wedding Signage
If you’re wedding decor is more elegant and fancy than rustic, consider using metallic letters for your wedding sign.
You’ll find lots of sellers on Etsy offering signs with gold or silver lettering. You can also buy a wooden wedding sign and paint it with metallic paint. This makes for a good budget friendly option.
I love the metallic sign in the photo above. It looks like someone was able to bend metal wire into letters and mounted it to a pretty wreath. This would be a fun craft for a wedding.
PVC & Acrylic Wedding Signage
I love acrylic signs for weddings. They look so classy and elegant, yet are relatively inexpensive to have made.
PVC signs are also available. I’ve seen a few of these signs where a photo of the bride and groom is printed onto the PVC – really cute!
Acrylic Wedding Signs
Acrylic is often used as the backdrop for custom wedding neon signs. As mentioned before, if a custom neon sign is too expensive, consider making your own using a sheet of acrylic and either LED tube lighting or flexible craft tubing for the letters.
Lighted Letters & Marquee Letters Wedding Signs
You’ve probably seen small lighted letters before in craft or home goods stores. They can be fun to use around the house for decorating or even for birthday parties.
But you can also use them for special events like weddings. The big lighted letters that stand several feet tall are called “marquee letters”.
You can buy marquee letters on sites like Amazon. But if it was me, I would look to rent these for your big day from a company such as Alpha-Lit. That way you won’t have to figure out what to do with them after the wedding.
Laser Cut Wedding Signage Ideas
Laser cut signs are another great alternative to neon signs for weddings. You can have laser cut signs custom made in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors.
Wood laser cut signs are very popular, but also consider a metal laser cut sign for your wedding. If you get a laser cut sign made with your last name or initials, it can be fun to hang it in your house after the big day.

Easel Signage For Weddings
Easel signs are very popular for weddings and are relatively cheap to do. You’ll need to find an easel of course and consider if you want to decorate it with greenery, ribbons, etc.
Then you’ll need a sign. You can rest custom wood, acrylic or metal signs against the easel. But for those on a budget, consider just doing a paper sign. A professional printing service can print out a nice paper board sign that can then be set on the easel.

Chalkboard Signage For Weddings
Chalkboard signs are very popular to use at restaurants these days. But have you considered doing a chalkboard sign at your wedding?
Chalkboard signs work really well for rustic or casual themed weddings. I think they work great for outdoor weddings too.
Chalkboard Wedding Signs
You can find pre-made chalkboard signs available on the market these days. Or consider making your own. You’ll need a decorative chalkboard and some chalk. Or use vinyl decals for the lettering.
Not creative? There are plenty of sellers on Etsy that can make a personalized chalkboard sign for your big day.
Balloon Letter Signs For Weddings
Many people think of using balloon letters for birthday parties. But why not use them for a wedding sign?
You’ll can purchase the individual letters to make a custom wedding sign. Or look for balloon letter words such as “love” or “Mrs”.
Fabric Signs For Weddings
Fabric signs for weddings can be really pretty and are something different for your reception. Many fabric signs are just a sheet of material such as linen that has been professionally printed with lettering.
If you’re good at sewing, consider making your own fabric sign for your wedding. Fabric transfer paper can be used for the lettering.
Vinyl Decal Signs For Weddings
I mentioned before using vinyl decals for wedding signs. This is quick way to decorate any sort of backdrop that has a flat surface.
You can get vinyl stickers made in all kinds of fonts, colors and sizes. One trend that seems to be popular these days is placing the vinyl decals on a framed mirror. This makes for a fun wedding sign and is pretty easy to do.
