Wondering where to rent flameless candles for your wedding or special event? Renting wedding decor is a good option for saving yourself some money.
But there are a few things to know before you sign a rental agreement.
Why Use Flameless Candles at a Wedding?
Here’s the dilemma with using candles for your wedding – they look gorgeous and help set a beautiful, romantic mood.
But many places don’t allow them because of the risk of fire. Or you need to spend time & hassle getting special permits from your local fire department. What to do?
Luckily you can easily get the same look of real flame candles at a wedding simply by using flameless candles!
Flameless candles are battery powered and use LEDs so there is no risk of fire and flame.
How to Get Flameless Candles for Your Big Day
So you’ve decided to go with flameless candles for your wedding. What options do you have for obtaining candles?
Basically there are 3 main ways to get flameless candles for an event:
- Buy them individually. This is the most expensive way to get flameless candles for an event. You will be paying full price for candles that you will then own. However the benefits to this route are that you get to pick exactly which flameless candles you want to use. The brand, color and style are all within your control so you can pick something that works best for your wedding theme. If you’re willing to list them on eBay or sites like Wedding Recycle then you can potentially make back some of the money you originally spent on the candles. See this post for places that sell flameless candles: Where to Buy Flameless Candles – The Best Places to Shop
- Buy them in bulk. Yes, you can buy flameless candles in bulk and potentially save money over buying individual candles directly from mainstream retailers. You will still end up owning the candles however, so this might not be a good option if you don’t have a way to reuse or resell them after the event. Bulk LED candles are often a cheaper quality than individual candles you can purchase. Bulk buying options for flameless candles are listed here.
- Rent them. Many couples choose to rent wedding decor items for their big day to save money and time. Rental companies often have a wide selection of items you can use for a fraction of the cost that you would pay to buy them yourself. In addition, some companies will even help you setup and take down decor items for your wedding. When you rent flameless candles instead of buying them, you’ll can spend more of your budget on other things.
Flameless Candle Rental Basics
There are a few things to consider before renting flameless candles however:
Rental Companies
You can rent LED candles from event styling & planning companies, event rental companies, some reception venues, even local fire departments! Just do a quick search for “candle rentals for weddings near me” to see what’s near you locally. As a result, don’t be afraid to shop around to find something that will work best for you.
Local or Via Mail
Know if a wedding candle rentals company can work with you locally or will need to ship their products to you. Many event rental companies prefer to only work with local clients. However there are some that are willing to ship you decor items and have you ship them back after the wedding. You’ll need to keep this in mind if you have plans to directly go on your honeymoon after the wedding – someone will need to be responsible for sending the items back.
The Fine Print
Read your rental agreement carefully before signing. Know what the company expects in terms of fees, time frames, etc. before you enter into an agreement with them. There are often charges for failing to meet the terms of the candle rentals agreement which will just cost you more money in the end.
Rental Candle Pricing
Know what to expect for the price you are paying. Most cheaper quality flameless pillar candles will rent for $1 – $3 per candle. High quality candles with moving flame pieces often rent for $6 -$7 per candle. Tea light and votives are often rented in sets. Also consider the color of the flame – warm white or cool white. Will the candles come with fresh batteries or will you be expected to provide your own? Don’t be afraid to ask a rental company questions about their products. In conclusion, carefully consider exactly what you’ll need before agreeing to a rental.
Rent Candle Holders for Wedding
Additionally, don’t forget about rentals for candle holders including tall candle holders and votive candle holders, lanterns, candlesticks or tapers, vases, hurricane candle holders, candelabras including crystal candelabras, centerpieces, unity candles, etc. All of these items can be rented as well.

The most interesting thing you mentioned here is that wedding planners could rent really powerful LED lights not only from rental companies but also from reception venues and even from local fire departments! This is just what my Aunt Rose would need should she want her forest or lakeshore night wedding reception to be fully lit for the videographer. It would really be great if she could rent non-glare red lights that wouldn’t disturb the peace of nocturnal animals when she holds her midnight wedding uphill in the forests of Carnelian Hills.
