I don’t know about you, but I want to be able to relax as much as possible on Christmas Day. So Christmas dinner has to be easy to make and plan ahead.

A few years ago, I decided I wanted to get more organized with the food I was planning on serving at Christmas. I wanted to feel like I was on top of things, instead of just winging it and hoping I had everything covered.

How do you go about planning out the perfect Christmas dinner? Most Christmas dinners feature the following dishes:

Appetizers
Main dish (usually at least one kind of meat)
Side dishes (cooked veggies, casseroles, etc.)
Side salad
Bread/rolls
Dessert
Drinks

So to start, figure out what dishes you’ll want to serve from the above categories. Then it’s a matter of getting recipes together, planning out ingredients, ordering food ahead of time and going grocery shopping closer to the holiday.
